Going Green in 2013

So, I have been doing a lot of searching lately for products that are good for me and my family and also good for the environment. I have come up with several recipes for things like my new no-nonsense poo and conditioner system. I up cycled an old shampoo bottle. In it I filled it about two thirds full of distilled water, (for measuring purposes). In a stainless steel or enamel bowl combine 1 cup baking soda and 2 drops of your favorite essential oil ( if you like) and the premeasured filtered or distilled water. mixthroughy. Shake well before use and dont get into your eyes. Rinse well. Step two, is to pour 1 cup apple cider vinegar into another upcycled bottle, fill the remainder of bottle with distilled or filtered wayer.
Start at the ends and work your way towards your scalp as you use this "conditioner". Again, I would caution you not to get in your eyes.the third and final step is a shine rinse foryour hair. My hair is dark so I use a sage rinse, but for grey or light colored hair I would suggest a chamomile rinse. I upcyle one more bottle filled with distilled.or filtered.water and place the waterbin a small kettle or saucepan, heat water to boiling while stirring 4-6 Tbsp of sage, or chamomile. When the water begins to boil, remove from heat and cover let steep til cool enough to pour into bottle. It took about three or four days for my hair to stop over producing oil, I wore a babushka tied in the back for those first few days if i needed to go out. I have not had any problem with dandruff. I really like this no poo system and it works well for me. Hope it brings you many smiles too!
